A Ukrainian woman runs a Żabka store in Białołęka, Warsaw. The woman posted an advertisement seeking employees.
„It brings me pleasure when Poles write to me, and I can afford to reply: 'I’m sorry, but Ukrainians have priority.’ It gives satisfaction,” she described on social media.

The situation caused outrage on social media. Poles began writing about discrimination.
The Żabka operator then hid her post and wrote that „in every nation, there are normal and abnormal people,” accusing the commenters of being jealous of her.

Żabka network reacts. Franchisee warned
The Żabka network’s headquarters intervened in the matter. „As a network, we require franchisees to comply with the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Franchisees and the standards applicable in our group, which exclude all forms of discrimination, including on grounds of nationality,” the Żabka press office stated in a communiqué sent to wiadomoscihandlowe.pl.
Żabka announced that it had contacted the franchisee to remind her of the applicable rules. „Due to non-compliance with our standards, the indicated advertisement has already been removed,” it reads.
According to the press office, the franchisee declared that her intention „was not to exclude any group from the recruitment process.” Żabka stated that each franchisee running a store is an independent entrepreneur who hires employees themselves and must comply with applicable regulations.
